Several Unique Business Card Designs
Have you already had a particularly extensive experience with the corporate world? You might have already gotten your hands on a number of different business cards from various companies and people.
In fact, you may have even acquired your own through commercial printing by a commercial printing company. One important consideration to effective materials is the design employed in creating them and ironically, many cards suffer because of this factor. Here are some unique and cool designs, which you may want to apply in future batches so that you will be able to utilize them to their fullest.
1. Informal - Do not even think of attempting this if your field of work is just a bit intolerant of "unprofessional" behaviours. Not that having an informal design-different shape, informal language, odd use of colors-means that you are an unprofessional person, but certain companies and clients can think along these lines and immediately discount you as a possible business partner. For less strict professions, however, such as creative writing for one, feel free to use an informal design. They may be rare, but there are cases when informal designs are actually favoured over rigid and by-the-book designs.
2. Minimalist - Here we have another tried and tested design practice. The minimalist approach is particularly effective in attention catching because with so little elements in the business card to notice, clients have a particularly easy time in latching onto the important details and portions.
Characterizing the Commercially Printed Business Card
Each commercial printing product is unique and different to all of the others. This goes for business cards as well, and there are many different aspects and facets to be considered when talking about card printing. Thus, in order to better understand this marketing tool called the card, it is best if a person is able to fully characterize what kind of commercial printing it is and what different traits and descriptions can best represent business cards. For starters, here are a few of the things behind business cards that it is good for commercial printing customers to be aware of.
Long term vs. short term. Are business cards more of a short term marketing tool or more of a long term tool? Actually, while it is in a way a little bit of both, it can be primarily characterized as a long term product. This is because the main use of cards is to make sure that other people are aware and are in possession of your name, contact details, and some information on your specialization, and these things do not really change quite so frequently. If you have some cards printed, you may make use of them for years on end, printing new batches whenever you run out. However, and this is where the short term aspect comes in, the same designs over and over again can get boring after some time, and you may find yourself using different designs and techniques each time you order a new batch.
Cheap Business Cards – Can They Do Your Business More Harm Than Good?
85mm x 55mm is a standard size for business cards. Cheap business cards tend to be printed on low-quality 250gsm (grammes per square metre) board.
For most quality conscious people this standard is just not good enough as the cheap card will in no way reflect the quality aspect of their own trade or business. A good quality average weight to aim for would be 335/350gsm with a 400gsm card being an ideal weight limit for a standard business card. Some companies will offer a 400gsm card as a minimum standard as they know the customer will be happy with the card quality.
Not all business card suppliers are the same though. Buying cheap business cards has the potential for things to go not as planned.
In any card printing process there are a few things that can spoil the job, no matter how much money you're paying.
e.g. Printing a job 'out of register' can cause ugly effects on your business cards.
Ink, when not applied correctly can cause your job to look pretty awful.
